Vigil Planned to Honor Anniversary of Cold Spring Officer Death

The city of Cold Spring will hold a candlelight vigil to honor a police officer killed while on duty in 2012.
The memorial at 7 p.m. on Nov. 29 will mark the two-year anniversary of Cold Spring-Richmond Police Officer Tom Decker's death. The 31-year-old was ambushed, shot and killed outside of a Cold Spring bar.

Stearns County Sheriff Asks Public for Help Locating Sex Offender

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a convicted sex offender who has an active warrant.

The sheriff says 23-year-old Dylan Andrew Johnson failed to register as a predatory offender. His last known address was in Elrosa, Minnesota, but when deputies conducted their quarterly residency checks it was discovered that he was no longer living there.

Minnesota Firearms Hunters Register 102,000 Deer

Minnesota hunters have registered 102,000 deer through the second weekend of the main firearms deer season.
The Department of Natural Resources says that's down 31,000 through the same period last year. Adding in special hunts and archery, the DNR says the total harvest so far this season is 115,000 deer, down 32,500 from the same point last season.

Heavy snow has stranded many motorists on a western New York highway. Some tips on what to do if you find yourself stuck in the snow:
- Pull off the highway and make yourself visible to rescuers. Turn on hazard lights and tie a bright cloth to your antenna or door handle.

Warning for Drivers: November is Peak Season for Deer Crashes

Motorists on Minnesota roads should be extra careful when driving this month.

November is the peak month for deer-vehicle collisions, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. From 2011 to 2013, there were 7,010 crashes involving deer reported, with 18 fatalities and 68 serious injuries.
