A stomach bug is hitting Minnesota especially hard this year, according to state health officials.

Norovirus, a digestive track illness, is common for this time of year, but there is an especially high number of cases, officials at the Minnesota Department of Health say.

Faith leaders met Sunday at the Central Minnesota Islamic Center to discuss the issue and see the damage, the St. Cloud Times reports.

Minnesota Health Officials Report Flu Surge

Minnesota health officials are reporting a surge in flu outbreaks at schools and long-term care facilities.
    
Through the end of last week, 203 new schools reported outbreaks, compared with 19 the previous week. That raised the number of Minnesota schools reporting outbreaks this season to 271.
    

St. Cloud Toys "R" Us to Close in January

St. Cloud’s biggest toy store is closing at the end of January.

Toys “R” Us confirms the store on Park Avenue South has been sold. The store has been open since October 1992 and employs 26 associates.

The company says it’s working to try to relocate the 26 employees, although the closest store is in Maple Grove.
